Florida Proposed PRO-2nd Amendment Legislation

Pending pro-second amendment legislation in Florida –

These bills are currently pending in the Florida House.  There are no bills in the Florida Senate currently pending that I would classify as pro-2^nd amendment.

House Bill 175 – FIREARMS

Firearms: Removes provisions authorizing seizure of firearms from persons in certain circumstances; removes prohibition on firearms ownership or possession until removal of firearm possession & firearm ownership disability; removes prohibition on persons younger than 21 years of age purchasing firearms; eliminates waiting period for purchases of firearms other than handguns; removes ban on bump-fire stocks; removes provisions providing for risk protection orders

This bill, if passed will return Florida’s firearm laws to the pre-Parkland High School tragedy changes and repeals the infringements upon Floridians second amendment rights which were put in place subsequent to the tragedy.  It reverses the changes made to Florida Law when Senate Bill 7026 became law.

House Bill 6007 – Licenses to Carry Concealed Weapons or Firearms

This bill removes the following language from 790.06 –

(13). Any college or university facility unless the licensee is a registered student, employee, or faculty member of such college or university and the weapon is a stun gun or nonlethal electric weapon or device designed solely for defensive purposes and the weapon does not fire a dart or projectile;

By removing this language the Bill allows campus carry so students at Florida Colleges and Universities are no longer forced to sit defenseless should an incident occur on campus.

House Bill 6005 – Possession of Firearms on School Property

If passed, this bill will remove the power of a school district to prohibit a securely encased firearm from being kept in a vehicle parked on school property,  except by students.  Visitors to the school, parents, and faculty will be able to keep a securely encased firearm in their vehicle while parked on school property without having to worry about local school board regulations.
