Carrying Firearms At Sporting Events In Florida

carrying a gun at sporting events

Sports Fans Beware!

Knowing the law when attending sports events is imperative.  Whether you enjoy going to Spectrum Stadium to watch the AAF Apollos (@aafApollos), or older, more traditional sports teams such as the Magic, Heat, Buccaneers and Dolphins, if you attend live sports events, we want you to stay legal.

Professional & College Sports Events

You may not carry a firearm at either professional or college sports events in Florida per Florida Statute 790.06(12)(a)(9).  This Statute expressly forbids an individual from open or concealed carry of a firearm into any school, college, or professional athletic event not related to firearms.

High School Sports Events

Further, you cannot carry a firearm to an elementary, secondary, high school or collegiate sporting event.   Regardless of the event being held before or after school hours or during summer vacation firearms are prohibited.  Further, this prohibition applies to both public and private schools.  Finally, it is important to remember that you cannot carry a firearm to ANY school athletic event even if the event is held off school property.

Exception

If you are a participant in the sporting event and it involves firearms you may carry at the event.  An example would be a professional shooting competition.

Always Remember!!
